Katharine Hargreeves was born ten minute after Klaus on the first day of October 1989 in Pennsylvania, United State, to Rachel Herschberger, an Amish woman, who had not been pregnant when the day began. Katharine was adopted by the billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves.Unlike her brother who got locked in a mausoleum when he was eight to overcome his fear and his ability to see ghost, Katharine 's power and abilities were different. It is unknown as to when they first appeared but for what she could remember, she has been wearing her dark gloves since she was eight year old to protect herself and others. Because one touch with her hands and something dangerous would happen. Even though, she doesn't remember when they first start, she remembers when it was first showed (she think). When it first happened, she got into a fight with one of her sibling, she must have been probably eight or nine. During that fight, her anger triggered her ability and the moment she touched her sibling's skin with her bare hands, they got hurt. She remembers this moment, clear as the day because she got punished for letting her emotion hurt a sibling and was locked in her room for a whole week. She never took off her dark gloves after that.The second incident happened when she was thirteen year old. She fell in love with a guy named Liam who was two year older than her. During their brief relation, she never took off her gloves once which Liam found a little bit strange at first. Everything was perfect except how she was teased by her siblings but her adoptive father forbid her to see that boy because training and mission was more important to him. Did she listen ? Of course not and this is where the disaster happened. She decided, one night, to snuck out from the Umbrella Academy home to meet Liam. They both talked. They could even hold hands since she was wearing her gloves but the feeling growing between Liam and her was making all those emotions boiling inside of her. Then it happened. Their lips met each others as they started to kiss. Everything was normal for a couple of seconds before she felt like a gust of wind getting sucked in in her mouth. She didn't understood right away what was happening but all she knew is that she felt somehow stronger, more alive. She continues to kiss him until Liam started to struggle and tried to push her away but she couldn't stop. Then, the struggle coming from Liam completely stop. She pulled away only to see the lifeless body of Liam who fall on the ground.Katharine quickly took a step back, starting to scream and crying. She was speechless. She was afraid. She decided to run away as fast as she could. The following days, she didn't spoke to any of her siblings , not even Klaus. She was scared. She isolated herself, and couldn't stop crying. After a couple of days, the news came from the police on the telly that they found the body of Liam. When she saw it, it awoken all of her emotions and fear, leaving her adoptive father no other choice than to lock her inside the mausoleum with her brother Klaus, because he was the only one she couldn't hurt and because of their twin bond. He was the only one who could be near her and calm her down every time she was unable to control her emotions. She stayed for hours. While Klaus was battling his fear for ghost, another strange ability awoken after her first (unintentional kill). She was able to hear Liam's voice but couldn't see him. It was only Klaus who could but they were too afraid and started to use drug to shut down his power.Anywhere she was going, she could hear Liam's voice. It was scaring her. It was driven her insane and drove her to become mentally unstable because she keep telling herself that he was there to haunt her, to kill her. Since then, she has never hug anyone except her brother Klaus because she was afraid to hurt anyone else. She loved her siblings too much.Like her other siblings, she left the academy and started to use drugs to not be able to hear Liam's voice echoing. She eventually end up in a mental Institute for drug use, for mental illness and nightmares.

RETURNING TO THE ACADEMYLosing their fatherAt the beginning of the series, Katherine was at the mental Institute. She was in the playroom where all the patient goes to either read, play chess game. Katharine isolate herself from anyone, wearing her gloves that she never took off.The news of her father's death was known and heard from nurses that were talking about it. Even if she didn't like her adoptive father for what he did to her siblings and her, he was still their father. She knew that she had to go. She asked to leave to see her father and seeing that she didn't seem to be a danger to herself and others, they let her go. She clearly was happy to be out from this place and away from the crowd. Though, the outside world was more crowded than the Institute she has been staying for the past years.Quiet like she is, she walk inside the Umbrella Academy without even being noticing and decided to stay in her old room for awhile, looking through her old stuff until she heard the voices of her siblings. Hearing them made her more happy she thought she would be. The first person she saw was Diego, Luther and Allison. A part of her wanted to hug her but she quickly back away, still fearing any physical contact.Being inside their childhood home quickly unlocked her fear to hear Liam's voice since she hasn't brought her medication with her but her fear faded away when she felt her brother Klaus's presence which indicated her that he was near. She quickly left to find him before she hug him.When things started to become overwhelming, she decided to join her twin brother and took a glass of whiskey before she joined the others to listen to Luther talking about their father's funeral.During the funeral of Sir Reginald Hargreeves, she didn't say anything but only observe and listen to Pogo and Luther's words. She stayed quiet until she heard Diego's speech and couldn't help but to snort because he was right. Later on, she heard noises coming outside and it was then that number five came back from a portal which she find it kind of funny because he didn't aged at all.

AS A CHILD ( 4 and 8 YEAR OLD )
portrayed by Madeleine McGraw and Violet McGrawAs a child , Katharine was known to be a sensitive kid. She was a kid with a strong curiosity. She always has been close to her twin brother Klaus but more when she was young where she could feel any physical and emotional pain. She was a young kid who had a lot of love and never wasted any time to hug her siblings.Her behavior shifted when her power started to show and she had to wear dark gloves, at the age of eight, she never hug or touch anyone else except when she had a fight with one of her sibling and didn't wear them. She still had that sense of curiosity but she was afraid to be near her siblings, to hug them. The only person she was able to hug was her twin brother.

AS A TEENAGER ( THIRTEEN YEAR OLD )

As a teen, Katharine became distant and secretive ( in a way that she started to date someone when she was thirteen. He was two years older than her but it didn't took much time for everyone in the family to know ). Her mental health and power became unstable after she accidentally and unintentionally the first and only boyfriend she had. After that, she started to be more rebellious in a way. She was angry at her father but mostly at herself. She excluded herself from everyone. She used training and mission to cope with her nightmares. For the constant voice of Liam and his presence, she started to take drug and drink to not be able to hear Liam's voice but it didn't erased the strong twin bond she has with her brother Klaus. She could feel his pain and fear even if she wasn't close. She was angry that her father was making him suffer.

AS AN ADULT
portrayed by Victoria PedrettiIt was at the age of seventeen after the tragic incident with ben that she decided to do like anyone else and to leave. She didn't want to stay in this house. She became mentally unstable, using any kind of drugs and alcohol to forget everything, to not hear Liam's voice who was haunting him every time she was getting sober (or this is what she think) She hasn't stayed in contact with any of her siblings except Klaus because she could feel when he wasn't well and when he was alright (in a way) She became paranoid to be in crowd and to have people touching her and be near her. All she could think about was how she could hurt them. She stopped talking, she stayed in her quiet state of mind and place, observing everyone in the mental Institute she was in. During her time at the mental Institute, she was in rehab because of her drugs and alcohol use. Then, she started to take medication but stopped them when she left the Institute to see her siblings after learning of their father's death. Despite her mental state of mind, her trouble with drugs and alcohol, she never stopped caring for her siblings. She never told them that she got into a mental Institute because she didn't want to bother them but she assume that Klaus might be the only one to know since she was talking to him on the phone anytime she could or when they both were locked in ( though he was in rehab while she has been in a mental Institute since she was nineteen.

HER RELATIONSHIP WITH HER FAMILY-- her twin brother -- » KlausKatharine is ten minute younger than him. Since she was young, she always felt a strong twin sibling bond where she could feel his his emotion and pain. Of all the siblings ( well, he is the only one who's really her sibling since everyone else are adopted ) , he is the only one capable to calm her when she is losing control of her power. He was one of the only person she was talking while she was in a mental Institute when she was able to. Like any siblings, adopted or not, they had their moment of bickering and fighting but at the end of the day, she never hated him. She always believed him, was trying to help him. When she was younger, whenever she was feeling down, Klaus and her would go eat donuts at night. When she was having nightmares, she would often come to his room and often fall asleep because she was feeling safer with him than her own room.-- adoptive siblings1 -- LutherShe wasn't close to him like Allison was to him but she respected him and look out for him. Though, she was deeply hurt when he made those bad choices like when he locked Viktor. Or when she saw that his whole body was like a gorilla which made her feel his pain.2 -- DiegoHer relationship with her brother was more close than with Luther. Since her young age, she was fascinating by his skill combat. When she was having problem as a young adult, Klaus and Diego were the first one to know and Diego often helped her, even though he wasn't too happy that she use drugs and alcohol. She often disagree that he fight and risk his life but she can't really do anything about it.3 -- AllisonBeing the only sister in the family after her, Katharine would always come to Allison for any advice and problem related to guys. Though, she was happy to have a sister, sometime she was angry at her for the way she treated her and their siblings especially when they were both adult. She often has conflict with her but she loves her.4 -- Number fiveWhen she was younger, she was a bit jealous of what he could do but she never was mean to him but she often teased him. When he disappear, she was heartbroken because she felt like it was her fault since she wished that he left. She often joined Viktor to wait for him every night while eating a snack, hoping that he would come back. When he got back, she , first , was surprised that he still look so young. Then, she only wish she could hug him but refrains herself because of her fear. She doesn't like when he is acting rude and mean.5 -- BenBen was the third sibling she was most close with. When she was younger, she admired and was afraid for awhile when she discovered what was he is capable of. She was devastated when he died which didn't help her decrease mental health. She didn't even know that her brother Klaus could see Ben but the moment she learned about it, she was happy because she didn't want Klaus to be alone with his struggle and she always admire Ben for his big heart and loyalty towards Klaus6 ---Vanya who is now ViktorKatharine always been angry and upset at how their father treated her during their youth. She never really understood why they left her. She often ask why Vanya wasn't training but it always end up with their father getting angry and telling her to stop asking question. She was always with her every night eating a snack after Number five disappear. Katharine was a bit shock at first when Vanya was now Viktor but she never stop loving him. For her, he was as important as any one else in the family-- her adoptive father Sir Reginald HargreevesLike all of her siblings, she doesn't have a good relationship with her father. She is afraid of him. She hate him for what he did to all of her siblings and herself. Her relationship with him was complicated. Even if she was mad at him and didn't like what he did, she was sad that he died-- her adoptive mother GraceKatharine doesn't remember her biological mother but Grace, even if she is a robot, was like a mother to her. She cared deeply about her. She didn't like how their father treated their own mother, how he was so cruel. Every night, her mother would read a bedtime story until Reginald said that she had to stop because she was making Katharine weak.--- PogoShe cared about him like a family member. She trust him more than their father.

with a kiss on the person's lips, she has the ability to kill someone. When she kiss someone on the lips, she takes the life force of the person.
Her power is triggered by a strong link and emotion (love) ( this is what happened to her first and only boyfriend when she was thirteen )2- LIFE ABSORB
she can be brought back to life when someone touched her. She absorb the person's life force and it gives her which gives her the ability to resurrect herself.3 - TOUCH OF DEATH
she can absorb the person's soul or weaken the person only by touching the person with her bare hands. It is triggered by any kind of emotion. the more the emotion is strong, the more it can kill the person or put them into a coma.( THIS IS WHY SHE ALWAYS WEAR HER DARK GLOVES SINCE THE AGE OF EIGHT )4 - ABSORB LIFE ENERGY
To do that, she has to have skin to skin contact with her hand or lips to lips.5 - IMMORTALITY
Her body absorb without knowledge the life force of others when she either touches them with her hands or when she kiss him. She isn't immortal like her brother Klaus who instantly come back. If she doesn't touch someone or didn't do it in a long time, she will lose her leverage to come back to life.6 - UNUSUAL POWERWhen she kills someone, she can hear the person's voice while her brother can see and talk to the ghost. She can only hear them which is why she could hear Liam because she killed him
